Martha
Hi, my name is Martha Goldsmith. I'm a Sewanee sophomore from Charlotte, NC and I am studying Neuroscience and Religion. I love to go on runs, walks with friends and spend time at the lake! I've spent my summers traveling on hiking and backpacking trips and am SCUBA certified! I've also been a camp counselor for 5 years. I can't wait to spend more time outside enjoying Sewanee's beautiful campus with Cumberland Forest School!
Josie
Hey there, I’m Josie Brown, a Junior at Sewanee from Atlanta, Ga who is majoring in Environmental Arts and Humanities. During my time at Sewanee I have led various trips with the Sewanee Outing Program and have also helped lead Sewanee’s Pre Orientation program where I helped take the incoming Freshman on climbing trips around campus. Last summer, I was a head counselor at SAS for their summer camp and while there for two weeks, led the outing program, watched over the 12 girls in my charge, and taught daily yoga sessions as I am also a registered yoga teacher. Some of my hobbies include rock climbing, mountain and road biking, hiking, swimming in various bodies of water, and just generally frolicking in nature. I am passionate about teaching kids about the beauty and wonder nature has to offer and am so excited to have the opportunity to spread my love of the outdoors with younger generations.
Paige
I’m excited to be outside and working for the Cumberland Forest School! I have several years of experience working with kids from tutoring and doing summer camps in high school. Here at Sewanee, I’ve helped lead PRE with the Outing Program for the past two years. My favorite outdoor activities are hiking, riding my bike, and just hanging out in a hammock while reading a good book.
Sam
Howdy, my name is Sam Kearley. I'm a senior at Sewanee from Salida, CO. I am a runner, cyclist, mountain climber and cowboy. I have been a mentor at my church's Sunday school for many years, and love playing outside. At Sewanee you'll find me running through the woods, sitting on the Stirlings porch with a book, or riding my bike through every kind of weather. I can't wait to be a back-up mentor this semester at the Cumberland Forest School!
Cecilia
Hello! My name is Cecilia and I am a sophomore at Sewanee! I love being outside, especially when I am hanging out in caves, backpacking, or running. This past summer, I worked at a summer camp in Colorado where we took campers hiking, backpacking, and climbing. That experience was amazing and showed me how much fun it is to be in a community outside!
Sarah Grace
Hello! My name is Sarah Grace (SG) and I am a first year at Sewanee. You can find me romping around the woods, climbing, trail running, and watching the sunset with my friends. I am from just down the road and when I was at SES I participated in an afterschool program similar to this one. It sparked my love for sporadic adventures and just hanging outside with cool people. I am so excited to be able to do it again but in a slightly different role! I have spent the past few summers working with kids at different summer camps and as a nanny. I am stoked to be a part of the Cumberland Forest School this semester!
Emma
Hi! My name is Emma Griffin, I’m from Charlotte, NC, and I am a Sophomore at Sewanee majoring in Natural Resources and the Environment. I love all of the outdoor activities the Sewanee area has to offer, especially hiking. During the summer I work as a counselor at a sleep-away camp in the North Carolina mountains, and I love helping kids grow their love of nature and the outdoors. I am so excited to be a part of Cumberland Forest School!
